According to his death certificate, James Young suffered from a "General Paralysis" of an "unknown origin" for 2 years and 6 months which culminated in his death on the 19th of December, 1933. At the time of his death James was a resident of the "Harrisburg State Hospital." What were the contributing factors... unknown. Where was the disease contracted if not at the place of death: Unknown. Did an operation precede death? No. Was an autopsy preformed? No. What test confirmed diagnosis? None. The Physician who signed his death certificate was P.A. Petree, M.D. on Dec. 20, 1933. In the same record, Dr. Petree is named as having been James Young's physician from June 9th, 1931, through the evening of his death on December 19, 1933 at 10:40pm. The informant on his death certificate, is a bizarrely unnamed individual: "Records State Hospital" (this is not the typical name of a nurse or an orderly that I have often seen in the past...) The James Young who is listed above was born on August 6, 1898, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, his father, William Henry Young, was 45 and his mother, Maria (nee Doleman), was 28. He had three brothers and one sister. After suffering from a general paralysis of unknown origin for 2 years and 6 months, he died on December 19, 1933, in the Harrisburg State Hospital, at the age of 35. He has many family members who were also buried in Lincoln Cemetery.
