  Notes	"A Civil War veteran, he enlisted and mustered into federal service at Lancaster February 9, 1865, as a private with Co. E, 24th U.S. Colored Troops, and appointed wagoner February 26. He honorably discharged with his company October 1, 1865, at Richmond, Virginia. A woman named Jeanetta applied successfully for a widow's pension despite the fact that his obituary in the Harrisburg Daily Independent claims that his only surviving relative was a sister with whom he had been living. He was not found with certainty in any census. Note that Findagrave #82433494 lists him as well, but the obituaries and pension indexes clearly point to this man as the veteran of the 24th U.S. Colored Troops."
