  Notes	The reported son of John J. and Amelia (Mares) Lee, in 1860 he was a waiter presumably living in or near Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, although he is not found in that census. He stood 5' 7" tall and had dark hair and dark eyes. A Civil War veteran, he enlisted at the stated age of twenty-five in Harrisburg February 8, 1865, mustered into federal service that same day as a private with Co. C 24th U.S. Colored Troops, and honorably discharged with his company October 1, 1865, at Richmond, Virginia. At discharge, he purchased his musket and associated equipment for $6.00. His brother-in-law Samuel H. Adley served in the same company. A member of Harrisburg's Stephens Post No. 520, G.A.R, he died at the reported age of 57-7-15.
