**MRS. CELA JAMISON**
One hundred and twenty-three years old!
Mrs. Cela Jamison, Negress, of 106 Chambers street, Steelton, who is the undisputed holder of Dauphin county's age record, will be taken late today to the County Home.
Basis for the claim that Mrs. Jamison is 123 years old is found in an old family Bible, which belonged to a Virginia family, now extinct, on whose plantation she lived until nine years ago. According to an entry in the Bible, she was born in 1804.
**Knit For Confederates**
Although she still is able to move around by herself, Mrs. Jamison can remember but few events in her long life. She recalls the Civil War and remembers that she knit socks and spun wool cloth for Confederate soldiers.
**Here Nine Years**
Mrs. Mary Christian, of Steelton, her niece, brought Mrs. Jamison North from Clark county, Virginia, nine years ago. A grandmother herself, Mrs. Christian recalls her aunt as a gray-haired woman when she was a child.
**Rests All Day Long**
The aged woman is satisfied just to sit in a chair all day and rest. She seldom talks, and appears to have difficulty in understanding all but Mrs. Christian. She recalls that she was married and that her husband died at least a half century ago, but can remember little about him. She had no children.
After being bound on a plantation as a slave, Mrs. Jamison stayed with the Virginia family after the Civil War. She was left alone when the last surviving member of the family died, nine years ago.
