  Notes	A SLAVE'S ESTATE HIS CHILDREN THE HEIRS A Grandson Will Probably Get the Property In court yesterday an order was made providing for the sale of the real estate of the late Richard Jones, near the village of Highland, and worth about $6,000. There is an interesting story connected with this matter. Jones, who died last January, was a slave owned by William Robinson, in Woodville, Va, but escaped after his wife Frances was sold to a Georgia trader named Menafee who in turn sold her and the two children, Henry and Sallie, to a Mississippi trader named Strother Yates. Jones made every effort to locate his children, but without success, and in his will bequeaths them an equal portion of his estate in case they are found within five years after his death. His widow, Louisa, and Rev. John C. Brocks. West Chester. Pa., the constituted special agent, continued a diligent search for the children or their heirs, and subsequently located Evander G. Rankin, a grandchild and son of Sallie, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. The other son. Henry, died years ago in New Orleans. Evander Rankin spent about two weeks at the home of Louisa Jones, in Swatara township, and the latter is now satisfied the former is the lawful grandchild and only surviving heir.
